Toro Multicycler Lawnmower takes Top Garden Machinery Award PDF Print E-mail

award_picture_article.jpg Toro’s innovative new Multicycler pedestrian lawnmower has been voted best new piece of garden machinery at the garden and leisure industry’s annual flagship exhibition at the NEC. This makes it the fourth consecutive year that Toro has won the garden machinery category in the prestigious Glee New Products Awards.

Launched this year, the Multicycler is ideal for small-to-medium-size gardens. Two out of three models in the range are fitted with Toro’s clever AutoMatic Drive System, one of the features singled out for praise by the awards judges. And all three machines come with the company’s innovative Recycle on Demand function, something that also caught the judges’ eye, which instantly switches the mower between bagging and recycling the cuttings in the lawn.

In recycling mode, the Multicycler cuts the grass into ultra-fine particles before firing the cuttings back into the lawn, hidden from view, where they break down to provide valuable moisture and nutrients. Therefore this is a great way for gardeners to do their bit for the environment by reducing the amount of garden waste going to landfill and adding to greenhouse gases. In addition, recycling is a great time-saver, cutting around a third off the time it takes to mow the lawn because there is no need to collect and dispose of the cuttings.

Glee award judge Keith Christian, from the British Agricultural & Garden Machinery Association, says: "The Multicycler is a good quality, 48cm petrol lawnmower with a particularly practical design. The unique aspects are its excellent AutoMatic Drive System, which matches the mower’s forward speed to the user’s own walking pace, plus a quick lever conversion to recycling mode. What really impressed me is that Toro offers all this at a starting price of £399, including VAT, which is particularly good value for money".

Toro Multicyclers have 109cc Briggs & Stratton petrol engines and feature easy-adjust handles for a comfortable mowing position, with simple two-point height-of-cut adjustment for cutting between 25mm and 102mm.
